1895:  Tchaikovsky’s ballet “Swan Lake” premiers in St. Petersburg.

1909:  Drummer Gene Krupa born.

1929:  Zydeco music’s “Queen Ida” (Guillory) is born.

1941:  Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) born.

1933:  Songwriter Sammy Cahn passes.

1948:  Lynard Skynard’s Ronnie Van Zant born.

1964:  Jazz trombonist and singer Jack Teagarden passes on.

1965:  The Who releases their first single “I Can’t Explain (with Jimmy Page on guitar too).

1971:  George Harrison releases “My Sweet Lord”.

1977:  The Eagle are number 1 on U.S. album chart with “Hotel California”.
