The Coahoma County High School boys basketball team’s Class 2A MHSAA State Championship celebration will be held on Saturday, April 29.
The Red Panthers (30-2, 10-0 in 2022-23) have won five state championships in the past seven seasons.
The championship parade will begin at 1 p.m. April 29 at the Coahoma County Jr./Sr. High School football field. Lineup begins at 12:45 p.m. and the parade will start 15 minutes later at 1.
The parade begins at the football field, turns right on Lee Drive, left on West Second Street, right on Delta Avenue and right at Nosef Park by the gazebo.
Everyone is welcome to join the parade and support their favorite basketball player, cheerleader or any other athlete.
A cookout will be at the Nosef Park gazebo immediately after the parade. There will also be fun and games and donations are accepted.
The City of Clarksdale will also be honoring the state champion Red Panthers at the Nosef Park gazebo.
“This will be geared toward the championship team,” said Ward 3 Commissioner Willie Turner at Thursday’s vetting meeting.
“A parade will be involved and a good, fun day and a good representation to represent the state championship.”
Mayor Chuck Espy expressed similar sentiments.
“The city will be participating in that so the action will occur at our board meeting,” he said.
Anyone wishing to make donations for the celebration may contact Andrea Williams at (662) 645-7123 or Thomas Williams at (662) 902-4559.
