The Arts & Culture District Sign honoring former City of Clarksdale Commissioner Grady Palmer went up today on Sunflower Avenue near City Hall.  Palmer was a graduate of Mississippi State University, then he was a respected teacher in the Coahoma County Public Schools for 32 years.  A tireless champion of Clarkdale, Grady was also a City Commissioner from Ward 2 for nearly 4 decades.  He was also a member of the American Legion and DECA program, and an everpresent member of the Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Many members asked that Grady be honored with a downtown sign.  Leading those requests were Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy and current Ward 2 City Commissioner Ken Murphey.
